If you must choose alternative clothing it is in your best interest to find the hardest wearing clothing you have available, Here are some suggestions:

Army Surplus Trousers
Waxed Jacket
Donkey Jacket
Army Surplus Jacket
Boots that cover the ankles
(boots without large heels or steel toe-caps)
We would not recommend wearing anything other than motorcycle gloves, No other glove comes close to the protection you get from them.
